Welcome to Chico Homeless Animal Outreach

Chico’s Non Profit Dedicated to Helping Homeless Animals

Chico Homeless Animal Outreach (C.H.A.O.) was started in 2013. We have deep roots in Chico and recognize the need for outreach to the pet-owning segment of the homeless community. Local veterinarian, Valerie Caruso, is our third Board member. She has been independently holding free clinics at the Jesus Center for more than four years. All of us are deeply committed to providing food and water, medical care, and (when necessary) shelter to the companion animals of homeless people.

We all have a lifelong love of animals and feel strongly that they must not be allowed to suffer. We have seen that, though there are many services and programs available to homeless people, their animals do not have the same opportunities, and they have no voice. We are committed to providing that voice.
