Welcome to Chico Homeless Animal Outreach

Chico Homeless Animal Outreach (CHAO) was started in 2013 in recognition of the need for outreach to the pet-owning segment of the homeless community. We are deeply committed to providing food and water, medical care, and --when necessary-- shelter to the companion animals of homeless people.

We have a lifelong love of animals and feel strongly that they must not be allowed to suffer. We have seen that, though there are many services and programs available to homeless people, their animals do not have the same opportunities, and they have no voice. We are committed to providing that voice.
